When the goddess of fortune knocks, there must be confidence that scratch cards from Danske Spil are in order as to quality, security and environment. FORCE Technology’s experts assist in this context.
A scratch card may turn people’s everyday life upside down. And it may be the access to the wildest dreams and the hottest wishes coming true. The scratch card with the correct symbols is just as secure as money in the bank – or is it?
“Yes, indeed! It is to be considered a gilt-edged piece of paper”, says Tomas Tomasson, logistics manager of Danske Spil.
”The word ”confidence” forms part of our value basis as it is of decisive importance that the customers can trust in products from Danske Spil. If once the confidence in one product breaks, it will inevitably have consequences for our other products. And in the end it will therefore entail that the customers deselect playing with Danske Spil.
In addition, scratch cards must comply with environmental norms so that nobody falls ill after trying his/her luck. Therefore we take great care in ensuring the quality and security of the scratch cards .”

A mix of simple and sophisticated control
The task of controlling security, quality and environmental aspects of Danske Spil’s scratch games is vested in FORCE Technology. Ole Bundgaard, departmental manager of FORCE Technology’s Chemical Analysis Department, tells that different technologies are employed in the effort to ensure quality and environment and to prevent cheating with the scratch cards .
”We use both simple kitchen table techniques and more advanced methods such as scanning electronic microscopy and x-ray fluorescence analysis to ensure that the scratch games enjoy the same high security and quality. It must for example not be possible neither to look through or light through the scratch layer, and the printed control bar code must not become smeared or illegible just because of being exposed to a bit of water. And then there must be quality in the scratch layer so that it is neither too easy nor too difficult to remove it by scratching.”
“Green” scratch cards
Green is the colour of the environment, and it should preferably remain green even if scratch cards are used to an ever-increasing extent. FORCE Technology namely also checks the heavy metal content of the scratch cards .
”Scratch card enthusiasts should preferably not scratch their way to a bad environment, and persons allergic to nickel should not risk skin eruption, and therefore we test that there are no heavy metals in the scratch cards to such an extent that it may damage the environment or human beings”, says Ole Bundgaard.
”FORCE Technology plays an important part in relation to the quality and security control of our scratch games. We experience great flexibility on the part of FORCE Technology for example in the event of urgent test assignments. Altogether FORCE Technology contributes to sustaining the credibility which is of focal importance to Danske Spil”, says Tomas Tomasson.
