With the assistance of FORCE Technology Fraefel Værktøjsfabrik A/S in Marstrup made the required improvements to pass the inspection of the Danish Working Environment Authority.
When the Danish Working Environment Authority at the beginning of the year made an unannounced visit at Fraefel Værktøjsfabrik in South Jutland, they found that the company needed to improve their working environment. All in all, the Danish Working Environment Authority concluded that another inspection was required, a so-called adjustment inspection, which was announced to take place one month after the first visit.
”It was pointed out that we needed a mechanical air intake and we imagined a major rebuilding of our factory and a financial investment on the same scale. We take the working environment very seriously and we are very aware that welfare on the job must be in order. Therefore, we needed experts to determine how we could meet the requirements of the Danish Working Environment Authority as the whole business seemed a bit overwhelming”, says Quality Coordinator Bente Heissel from Fraefel Værktøjsfabrik.
Working environment review of production and administration
”The Working Environment Legislation is heavy reading, and it is also difficult with 100% certainty to know how machines and other equipment should be handled in relation to the law. Our cooperation with Fraefel Værktøjsfabrik resulted in a report and an action plan which made it easy to see which improvements were needed to meet the requirements of the Danish Working Environment Authority”, says Claus Johansen, Consultant at FORCE Technology.
In collaboration with the management of the company in South Jutland, Claus Johansen made a working environment review of both administration and production. The administrative procedures were checked and the same applied to the production system and the installations.

”It has been a positive experience working with FORCE Technology. They have been very meticulous", says Bente Heissel from Fraefel Værktøjsfabrik. |
“A safe working environment is about both knowledge and attitudes, and during a one-day review we deal with many problems seriously, but informally”, says Claus Johansen.
Up-to-date workplace assessment
With the report from FORCE Technology it was fairly easy for Fraefel Værktøjsfabrik to make the improvements. The workplace assessment was updated, machine safety and ventilation were improved, and a health and safety representative was elected. With these improvements the company now has the highest level of safety by the standards of the Danish Working Environment Authority.
”It has been a positive experience working with FORCE Technology. They have been very meticulous. And it has proved to be a very good thing as we actually had equipment available in the company to meet the requirements regarding mechanical air intake. So, we have saved unnecessary costs and downtime in the production. The report with the attached photo documentation was also a good basis for the dialogue with the Danish Working Environment Authority who quickly and without any comments accepted our improvements”, says Bente Heissel.
