Swedish DynaWind extends their production of wind turbine towers in a growing market. Draw on knowledge from FORCE Technology on welding and quality control of the wind turbine towers during the kick-off phase of a new large factory.
Tailwinds blow in favour of wind turbines in Sweden, and DynaWind AB increase their wind turbine tower production. This occurs with the establishment of Sweden’s most modern factory in the business, in Kristinehamn, and with this the company is a significant partaker in the Swedish efforts to realise the renewable energy’s huge potential.
In close cooperation with DynaWind, FORCE Technology is working on optimising the production by planning efficient inspection methods for the wind turbine towers welds.

Increased production
“We have been part of the factory’s start-up phase, and our efforts have been concentrated on test methods in connection with wind turbine tower production. Today, the circumferential and perpendicular weld seams on the turbine towers are manually quality inspected by use of hand-held ultrasonic scanners, but as DynaWind wish to increase their production, at the moment we focus more on efficient methods that are able to keep up with an increased production rate”, explains branch manager Anders Olsson from FORCE Technology, Sweden.
Market in progress
DynaWind AB produces wind turbine towers and also sells and erects complete wind turbines equipped with wind turbines from the Finnish company WinWinD. The newly erected factory was inaugurated in December 2007 and is the most modern of its kind in Northern Europe. At present the factory produces 40 % of its estimated capacity.
“We are working on trimming the production even further. This involves automating various processes, reducing inspection time of the welds and improving the quality. This is where we draw on FORCE Technology’s knowledge and expertise”, explains managing director, Anders Sjögren and factory manager Mats Wallin from DynaWind AB.
Competences are in place
Sweden has the potential to become one of the huge players in the market of Wind energy, if capacity, quality, competence and competitiveness can hook up together. In these areas Anders Sjögren, Mats Wallin and Dynawind find themselves on safe ground:
“We focus a lot on quality and the safety aspect in our products. We believe that our knowledge and competence, together with FORCE Technology’s experience from the global market provide good synergy, and we can profit from best practice. FORCE Technology is competent as regards inspection of weld seams and welding procedures, which ensures DynaWind that our products are satisfactory”.
