In a number of safety critical areas, including aviation, nuclear energy, shipping and hospitals, work is performed in the field known as "Human Factors" to improve safety, quality and efficiency and to reduce error.
Human Factors is based on psychology and knowledge on how people think, feel and act.
Human Factors - a field that is rich in tradition
The field was established around the time of World War ll , but truly began to assert its importance from the end of the 1970s. At that time, it was typically utilised in connection with aviation and nuclear energy, in which the human elements' impact on security was, and still is, extremely important.
Interest in the field in the health care sector is somewhat newer and primarily related to work with patient safety.
We work together with DTU-RISØ, Department for System Analysis under the name of the Danish Human Factors Center (DHFC).
