Quality control and LEAN constitute a successful partnership. The ISO 9001:2000 standard has, among other things, focus on regular improvement of the quality control system’s efficiency. It may be very advantageous to apply LEAN tools, such as Kaizen, for this purpose.

It is beneficial that the realisation of management’s targets for improvement is implemented by Kaizen in order to ensure good involvement from the employees in the regular improvements of the quality control system’s efficiency. Moreover, the Kaizen events will ensure that the quality control system becomes dynamic.

Once the actions are conducted they will be assessed and the successful methods and results will be anchored. The anchoring is made partly via communication of the new knowledge to the rest of the organisation. Moreover, the procedures and instructions under the quality control system are adjusted in order to maintain the methods. LEAN and Kaizen have thereby become a natural part of the company’s quality management system.
